Brass is a warm, gold colored alloy of copper and zinc. Prized for its rich history and aesthetics it has been used since Egyptian times for jewelery making.
As with most metals when brass comes in contact with air it can oxidize leading to a slight color change.The copper in brass jewelry may react with the natual acidity of the skin, especially in rings, causing a temporary greenish mark. While harmless if this concerns you may consider an alternative like 92.5 silver.

Here are some simple ways to care for your brass jewelry:
- Wear them often! The natural oils from your skin help prevent tarnishing.
- Do not wear brass jewelry in hot springs.
- Avoid chlorinated and salinated water as well as perfumes and lotions.
- When storing place it in an airtight box or bag.
- Cleaning: Place the piece in warm water with dishwashing liquid. Soak for a few minutes and scrub with an old toothbrush. Dry thoroughly.
- Polish: Simply wipe jewelry down with a soft microfibre or silver cleaning cloth.
- For a vintage look no extra care is needed.

- Cleaning: Mix a paste of roughly three parts bicarbonate to one part water and apply to your silver jewelry with a soft cloth, taking care to avoid stones or pearls. Rince with warm water. Dry thouroghly with a microfiber cloth. Alternatively use a silver cleaning solution.
- Polishing: Simply wipe jewelry down with a silver cleaning cloth.
